SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 42

Recognizing "Comfort My Children" an international outreach program
committed to human rights around the world.

Whereas, "Comfort My Children" is an international program
designed to help youth learn about human rights, especially the
rights of children. They have attended meetings at the United
Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, regarding strategic human rights
and issues like orphans of violence around the world; and

Whereas, "Comfort My Children" has contributed in aid and
assistance to numerous nations with an emphasis on children. They
have collected sporting equipment, warm clothing, medical supplies,
art supplies and many other much-needed items; and

Whereas, This outstanding program was cofounded by Sister
Catherine Callaghan and Michael Thomas Morrow. Its members consist
of Ryan Stocking, Benjamin Leung, Shayla Harris, Christina Lester,
Angelique Miller and Alana Hunter; and

Whereas, "Comfort My Children" members express their views of
the world through art, expressing their sights and understandings
as they see them. They were responsible for the creation of "The
Heartbeat of Eleanor Rooselvelt" which was a collaborative work of
art by two hundred youths from sixty-three nations; and

Whereas, Eleanor Roosevelt devoted herself to humanitarian
efforts. She was an advocate for the rights of the poor and
disadvantaged. She is honored by the artistic exhibition of a
picket fence called "The Heartbeat of Eleanor Roosevelt".
Simplistic in design, yet powerful in its meaning as a witness to
our security and assurance, the fence stands, with each picket
joined to the other, for the embodiment of aspirations of Eleanor
Roosevelt and for the advancement of human rights around the world;
therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby recognizes the outstanding
contributions, dedication and commitment of "Comfort My Children"
in its vigilant pursuit for the advancement of human rights around
the world, especially the rights of children; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Senate commends "Comfort My
Children" of its active involvement in contributing aid and
assistance to nations who are suffering; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to "Comfort My Children".
